Lonnie Grollman (aka Mickey Eason): My Mentor, And One Of The Most Intelligent And Inspiring Americans I Have Ever Met

A great article from 2015 from The Atlantic called “Lost in death” by Joel Beinin, a Yom Kippur guest host on FOX & Friends, says Rabbi Earl Grollman had a great influence on me and my profession. He sought to demystify death and grief. It is why I really respected Rabbi Grollman a lot, and thought he was a real presence of light in the world. A speaker who has a knack for making his audience feel good and smiling, part of his philosophy is “the secret to a happy life is the way you live.” Rabbi Grollman also advocated a good deal of compassion and unity among our nation, two values that I share. Rabbi Grollman had a great zest for life and inspiring the young and old alike. He was also known to speak at an annual event at UCLA named for his grandfather, and he spoke there at least once. He was, no doubt, a major influence on my passion for teaching college students to learn and live in a compassionate manner.

My mentor has passed away, we’ll all miss him. RIP Rabbi Grollman.
